| If you had to design the ideal Trout Fishery then Bigland Trout Fishery would make a marvellous blue print.
Nestled in the south Lakeland fell land surrounded by deciduous woodland and heather beds make this fishery amongst one of the most scenic of fisheries. With varied underwater topography and huge fly hatches this water can be seen crawling with emerging buzzer in April, thick with olives in May, June and September, Damsel fly May through to September, Black Gnat, Beetle and hordes of other terrestrials can be expected at anytime through out the warmer months and prolific sedge hatches on warm summer evenings. The very configuration of the water means that quiet corners can usually be found even on windy days. Walkways give access to two of the Islands and an outcrop known as “the spit”. Trout can be found anywhere making it one of the fisheries that genuinely does fish all round. Stocking takes place on a very regular basis with 1.5 – 2.5lb to double figures. We hope to update the site at regular intervals, so if you have any comments or photo’s taken on our water and you would like us to add them to the site then please forward jpeg to kath@biglandtroutfishery.co.uk . |
